Alien: Covenant 2017

"Alien: Covenant": This horror-sci-fi film directed by Ridley Scott is eerie and its storyline is 2 hours and 3 minutes long. On the scale of IMDb, it scores 6.4/10; meanwhile, on Rotten Tomatoes, it scores 65%, though Google users like it more-76%. The movie is sequential to the events happening in the movie, "Prometheus." The colony ship Covenant is on its mission to the habitable planet, but suddenly a strange radio transmission sent them off course. However, things took the worst turn when they started running into lethal aliens and had to undergo an agonizing escape. The movie was released on May 11, 2017, in New Zealand, and was distributed by 20th Century Studios. It easily hooks up with other parts of the Alien franchise to continuously build the elements of suspense and horror. 'Alien: Covenant', from characters by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, grossed $240.9 million – piecing together science fiction, horror, and extraterrestrial threat in the hands of one very capable director: Ridley Scott.

The movie opens on the spaceship Covenant en route to Origae-6, transporting several thousands of colonists and embryos. The ship is hit with a neutrino burst that suddenly awakens the crew from stasis. This crew is tended by Walter, an android similar to David, and he helps to repair the ship. While trying to repair the ship, the crew intercepts a strange transmission that originates from a planet proximal to their current position, in addition to being habitable. Captain Oram, played by Billy Crudup, demands an investigation against the objections of second-in-command Daniels.
When they finally reach the planet, they find remnants of the Prometheus and the android David, played by Michael Fassbender, the only survivor of the ship. He tells them that the Engineers indigenous on the planet had been destroyed by a black substance he refers to as "the pathogen." But he adds that the pathogen can be tamed in order to create new life. As the crew members start to explore the planet, the contact is made with the pathogen-generated mutated creatures. Several crew members get infected with the infection, which results in the neomorphs, which are aggressive and fast-evolving organisms. Matters quickly spiral out of control as some crew members meet their grisly ends.

It isn't until David discovers a more sinister motive-he views the pathogen as a creation/destruction entity he intends to exploit to wipe out humans. He creates a payload of the pathogen and releases it into the air supply of the Covenant, which manages to kill many of the colonists. Daniels and a few survivors track down the truth about what David's intentions are. They confront him, and Walter, the other synthetic, shows up to help. The fight between the two ends in ambiguity as to which one of them survives. In the very end, Daniels and some survivors finally manage to escape the planet and head to Origae-6. In that process, it is revealed that the surviving android had masqueraded as Walter, actually hosting David's consciousness and intending further experiments with the deadly pathogen.

The film ends on a note that suggests David's experiments will yield the quintessential Xenomorphs, setting a stage for events that transpire in the original "Alien" film.
