Project Power 2020

The movie starts with Biggie, some mysterious figure in New Orleans, distributing the new fatal drug called "Power" on the streets. The experimental pill gives superpowers to the user for five minutes. Effects are never predictable: some users acquire incredible abilities such as super strength, invisibility, or bulletproof skin, while others receive a lethal dose.

Robin Reilly is a teenager who deals drugs around the neighborhood, selling Power pills to keep her ailing mother in treatment. She is an aspiring rapper and free-styles between hustles. One of her regulars is Frank Shaver, a police officer in New Orleans. Frank uses illegal Power pills to gain superpowers that make him bulletproof so that he can take down other criminals on the same pill. Art is a former soldier with an ulterior motive for coming to New Orleans in search of the source of Power. He's tracking down the suppliers to find his kidnapped daughter, Tracy, who was taken by Teleios, the organization behind the drug, because she naturally possesses powers without needing the pill.

Art kidnaps Robin when he finds out she is connected with the dealers, hoping she will lead him to Biggie. After a tense confrontation, Robin realizes that Art is not a bad guy and agrees to help him, especially after he saves her from a dangerous situation.

Frank is investigating the increased anarchy due to Power. He is suspended for taking the pill while on duty, but Frank proceeds to investigate his suspicion of corruption in the police force. He confirms it soon after he finds out Teleios is working with some corrupt officials. Following Biggie to a private club, Art and Robin find him demonstrating the effects of the drug to prospective buyers. Art confronts Biggie, who explains that the pills are part of a military experiment in creating super-soldiers by harnessing abilities from the natural powers of animals. A fight ensues, after which Art forces Biggie to reveal more information before he dies from an overdose of his own product. Art discovers Tracy is on a ship named "Genesis." Robin calls in Frank for backup, and they drive to the ship together in an attempt to save Tracy. On the way, Art mentions his involvement with the project and how Tracy was the only DNA holder that managed to create Power.

They then catch up with the person in charge on the ship: Dr. Gardner, the mastermind behind Power. The drug was not for street use but to fund the continued experimentation on enhanced humans. Tracy was taken because her DNA held the secret to permanent abilities.

Art, Robin, and Frank fought their way through the heavily armed guards, using Power only when necessary. Art refused to take any of the pills due to their hazardous effects. Cornered, Art finally took a pill and let loose with his terrifying power: harnessing the energy from a pistol shrimp, he created a huge wave of destructive energy that killed the guards but almost cost him his life.  Robin locates Tracy and returns her to Art. In the ensuing chaos, Dr. Gardner is killed, and the ship is destroyed.

Frank blows the whistle on police corruption and the truth about Power in the aftermath. Art decides to go away to begin life anew with Tracy. Robin heads back home to take care of her mother and, for the first time, pursue her dream to be a rapper. The distribution of the Power pill was brought to a stop, but it remains unclear how the world would truly be affected by it.
