Siccin 6 (2019): The dark history of the dead sister
"Siccin 6" is based on the story of a most unnerving and sorrowful man, YaÅŸar, haunted by his very own past and supernatural horror. YaÅŸar and his wife live with their son, Efe, and YaÅŸar's father, Fahri, in a boarding house. Their life isn't that easy at all, as some ghostly things have been happening around one after another.
The family of YaÅŸar is marred by the death of his sister, Hazal. A number of years ago, Hazal had been sucked into a forbidden love affair which did end tragically. She died amidst a storm of mystery and suspicion of witchcraft. Everybody feared the lady's lover, Cemal, who was claimed to deal in black magic and brought a bad spell upon the family. One day, rummaging through the attic, Efe comes across some kind of very evil-looking old chest. Opening it, he finds Hazal's stuff: a diary and some creepy trinkets inside. The plot speaks of her tragedy and her love for Cemal, after which she fell into the dark side. Then, there are even more terrible visions and supernatural incidences. Things begin to get more and more intensive and terrifying, and YaÅŸar began to grow increasingly desperate in seeking ways to protect his family. Ghostly visions, strange noises, and terrifying events seemed to revolve around the house concerning Efe until Canan, in particular, suffered very terribly from horrible nightmares and sleepwalks.
YaÅŸar seeks the help of a local cleric: as Hazal and Cemal engage in black magic, the family has fallen under a curse. He says the souls of Hazal and Cemal are in a restlessness, causing all those disturbances. YaÅŸar has to find out how Hazal died to dispel the curse and free the spirits. For that, an insight into the extent of Hazal's sufferings and a proper act of atonement on YaÅŸar's part were needed. YaÅŸar learns that Hazal's death was an accident, caused by the black ritual performed by Cemal. This bound their spirits to the earthly realm in their love and desperation. The supernatural attacks begin reaching peaks as the spirits of Hazal and Cemal catch the tempo for being more aggressive, and Efe's life begins to be in grave danger. YaÅŸar is put through the ritual purification by the cleric. It is a ritual for confrontation with spirits and begging forgiveness for sins of the past. But during this ritual, YaÅŸar is going to burn under the full wrath of these spirits. He has awfully vivid and horrible visions regarding the sufferings Hazal presents, as well as the dark rituals Cemal is performing. Though the spirits are still rebellious, they are pacified by the presentation of YaÅŸar's sincere repentance and the powerful prayers of the cleric. All of this leads up to a dramatic confrontation when YaÅŸar finally breaks the curse.
Hazal and Cemal are finally saved, and their souls stop haunting various people. The movie just ends there, with the family trying to get on with life. Inside, there are still scars on what happened, but above all, the family is free from the supernatural pain. YaÅŸar feels relieved by the fact that the soul of his sister was saved, and now everything is bright in front of the family; there is nothing but the present without any shadows at the back.
