"Star Wars: Episode IV-A New Hope" is a ground-breaking science fiction fantasy film from the great George Lucas that took viewers on an epic adventure long ago in a galaxy far, far away. With its impressive 8.6/10 rating on IMDB, its more than impressive 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, its equally impressive 90% on Metacritic, and thunderous 90% approval by Google users, the deal as a masterpiece of film should have been sealed. The movie opens with its villain, Darth Vader, abducting Princess Leia, played by Carrie Fisher. A young farm boy Luke Skywalker was also played by Mark Hamill in this adventurous rescue attempt along with a Jedi Knight, a pilot, and two droids for the salvation of Leia and the galaxy from the despotic hands of the violent Galactic Empire. A New Hope' was released in the USA on May 25, 1977, through the distribution of 20th Century Studios and 20th Century Home Entertainment. This film became a cultural phenomenon and changed the science fiction genre with its revolutionary visual effects and captivating storyline. Upon its creation, the $11 million budget was well spent-the visuals were exquisite, with then very fresh cinematography by Gilbert Taylor and editing by Paul Hirsch, Marcia Lucas, and Richard Chew. 'A New Hope' is just one of those movies that even by modern standards is a classic, having molded the face of movies as we know them today and captured generations upon generations of fans worldwide.

The film follows Princess Leia Organa, played by Carrie Fisher at the outset, in possession of the plans for the Death Star-a new breed of space station developed by the villainous Galactic Empire. She thinks best to conceal the plans within a droid, R2-D2, played by Kenny Baker, and sends him to Tatooine, a desert planet. Entering Tatooine, the droids fall into the possession of a young fantasizing farmer by the name of Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill, who has a urge to hunt for adventure. Aided by the wise and powerful Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, played by Alec Guinness; smuggler Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford; and his copilot Chewbacca, played by Peter Mayhew, Luke embarks on a mission to deliver the Death Star plans to the Rebel Alliance.

Along the way, they rescue Princess Leia from the clutches of the villainous Darth Vader, voiced by James Earl Jones, the right hand of Emperor Palpatine. Obi-Wan begins training Luke in the ways of the Force-perhaps introducing him to this mystical energy giving the Jedi their power. All these at the cost of a number of challenges the group has to pass, some of which include the gutsy rescue on the Death Star-daring rescue within the 'Death Star' where their attempt at disabling the station's defenses is ordained. In that mission, Obi-Wan engages in a light-saber fight with Darth Vader and sacrifices to make way for the other members of the crew to escape.

Having the plans of the Death Star in their possession, the Rebel Alliance plans an attack to destroy the space station. Luke joins the team of attackers among the Rebel pilots, the others being Wedge Antilles and Red Squadron. At the height of the climactic battle, Luke uses the Force to guide a proton torpedo into the Death Star's vulnerable exhaust port-the triggering mechanism for a chain reaction that destroys the deadly weapon. At the end of the movie, there is a big victory celebration by the Rebel Alliance in grand style-a big win against the Empire. The medals of bravery are handed out-to Luke, to Han, to Chewbacca-a final promise that the struggle between good guys versus bad guys will continue in the galaxy.
