The movie follows Rod and Carolyn as they discover their pet dog mysteriously dead and experience malevolent spirits targeting their daughter Andrea. In desperation, they enlist the help of investigators to confront the paranormal activity. With a budget of $20 million and music by Joseph Bishara, the film delivers a chilling tale of supernatural terror, expertly edited by Kirk Morri.

The film follows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who are renowned for their work in the field of demonology. They are approached by the Perron family, who are experiencing disturbing and unexplained phenomena in their newly purchased farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island. The Perrons, consisting of parents Roger and Carolyn and their five daughters, are terrorized by a malevolent entity haunting their home. Doors slam shut, strange noises are heard at night, and one of the daughters claims to have seen a ghostly figure. Upon arriving at the farmhouse, Ed and Lorraine immediately sense a powerful and malignant presence. They conduct an investigation and determine that the Perron family is indeed being targeted by a demonic entity.

 As the Warrens delve deeper into the case, they uncover the dark history of the farmhouse. It is revealed that the property was once owned by an accused witch named Bathsheba Sherman, who sacrificed her child to the devil before taking her own life. Bathsheba's malevolent spirit now seeks to possess Carolyn Perron and claim her family as her own.

 

The Warrens work tirelessly to rid the Perron family of the demonic entity. They perform exorcisms and conduct séances in an attempt to expel the spirit from the farmhouse. However, their efforts are met with fierce resistance from Bathsheba, who will stop at nothing to maintain her hold on the Perrons. In a climactic showdown, Ed and Lorraine confront Bathsheba in the farmhouse's cellar, where they perform an exorcism to banish her from the property. With the help of the Perrons and their faith, they successfully drive the demon away and restore peace to the household. The film concludes with the Warrens returning home, where they are contacted by another family experiencing paranormal activity. As they prepare to investigate the new case, Lorraine has a vision of a demonic nun, foreshadowing events to come in future installments of "The Conjuring" universe.
