The Lucky One is a romantic war film released in the year 2012, directed by Scott Hicks, and running for 1 hour and 41 minutes. Rated 6.4/10 by IMDb, 20% by Rotten Tomatoes, although a little higher on Google Users at 62%, this is a film which really speaks to a divided audience. A lonely and dejected Marine returns from the Iraq war and sets off on an unexpected odyssey in quest of a woman he believes was his good-luck charm during the fighting. Released on 20 April 2012, in the USA, through Warner Bros., Warner Bros. Pictures, Pathé, and Roadshow Entertainment, the film furrows into aspects of connection and healing. Adapted from 'The Lucky One', it is produced by Denise Di Novi and Kevin McCormick, while the plot of the movie changes as the story goes- the comfort which the marine protagonist finds staying with the woman's family opens up a tale of love, strength, and pursuit of inner peacefulness. The Lucky One' is a statement to the fact that war imprints permanent effects on the human spirit, as it ensnared a box office success of $99.4 million.

The film takes the audience through the life of Logan Thibault, a U.S. Marine played by Zac Efron serving in Iraq. Serving in Iraq, Logan finds a photo of a girl half buried in the sand. He believes that the photograph was a good luck charm, protecting him and that when he went home, he would find the woman in the picture. Logan concludes his tour of duty and walks from Colorado to Louisiana in search of the lady. Later he comes to know her name as Beth Green, whose character is played by Taylor Schilling. He finds her working at a dog kennel facility. Logan applies to the kennel for a job without revealing the actual reason for which he has been looking for Beth.

Beth is immediately wary of Logan, but once he starts getting involved in the community, he soon charms Beth's son Ben (Riley Thomas Stewart) and her grandmother Ellie (Blythe Danner). Logan struggles with not only telling Beth why he initially tracked her down but also finds himself falling in love with her.

The story of how their relationship goes through challenges that arise-including Beth's ex-husband, Keith Clayton, played by Jay R. Ferguson-are becoming more threatening and controlling, as Logan's secret and the antagonism of Keith have engendered tension in their lives. At length, Logan decides to disclose the truth about the photograph. Of course, initially Beth had been seriously incensed at the deception, but later gained a perspective that the picture meant so much to her because it was the vehicle through which they got together. Issues are worked through with the couple, and they continue building a life together.

The movie ends with the marriage of Logan and Beth, which marks the start of a new life for the two. "The Lucky One" shows throughout the plot the themes of love, destiny, and how the past influences current moments.
