Joker: Folie à Deux (2024) - A Deep Dive into the Upcoming Sequel
Filming has just begun on the sequel to the hugely acclaimed Joker. It's called Joker: Folie à Deux, and will arrive on October 4, 2024. Todd Phillips, who directed the original, helms this one, too, from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver. Fans can look forward to another deep dive into the dark mind of Arthur Fleck, with Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role, promising a performance that will be both powerful and memorable. It will introduce Harley Quinn, this time not as a psychiatrist but as a fellow patient, played by Lady Gaga, at Arkham Asylum. At the center of this is the crazed romance between the two as the story goes on a trip into the wild world they will create inside and outside the asylum walls.
Joachim Phoenix will be reprising his Oscar-winning role with the same level of fervor and depth that made his Joker iconic. Then, adding Lady Gaga into the mix, playing Harley Quinn, adds another new layer of brightness, mainly driven by the shared insanity between them. Returning cast members include Zazie Beetz, as Sophie Dumond, Arthur's former love interest, while new appearances include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland, all very much under wraps in terms of character detail, which only really heightens the mystery surrounding the film.
