As Alita tries to piece together her forgotten past, she uncovers her incredible skills in the martial art of Panzer Kunst. She also learns that she was once a powerful warrior, known as a "Berserker," designed for elite combat. Alita develops a romantic relationship with Hugo, but their love is tested by the harsh realities of Iron City. Hugo is involved in illegal activities, including scavenging cyborg parts to trade for the chance to go to Zalem. Alita confronts the mysterious figure of Nova, a powerful and manipulative force in Zalem who controls many aspects of Iron City. She discovers that Nova has been orchestrating events to maintain control and suppress any threats to his rule.


Alita decides to participate in the Motorball competition to earn a chance to go to Zalem and confront Nova. She faces fierce opponents and intense challenges in the Motorball championship, showcasing her exceptional combat abilities. In the climax, Alita confronts Nova in Zalem, revealing her determination to break free from his control. The confrontation involves intense battles and revelations about Alita's true identity and purpose.
