"Warhorse One" is a 2017 American thriller film directed by Elliott Lester. The story revolves around Roman Melnyk, a construction worker, whose life takes a tragic turn when his wife Olena and pregnant daughter Nadiya die in a devastating plane crash. The accident occurred on flight AX 112, which was en route from New York City. Roman is allowed to leave work early to prepare for the arrival of his family, but instead, he receives the devastating news of the crash at the airport. Blaming the air traffic controller, Jake Bonanos, for the death of his family, Roman sets out on a quest for closure. Jake Bonanos, the air traffic controller on duty during the crash, is happily married to Christina with a young son named Samuel. The collision happens when Jake is forced to handle both his and a colleague's responsibilities due to a temporary communication breakdown during maintenance. Although investigations clear Jake of direct responsibility, he struggles with overwhelming guilt, leading to a slow unraveling of his life.

As Roman mourns and blames Jake, the two characters become intertwined in a narrative that explores grief, guilt, and the aftermath of tragedy. Roman, posing as a volunteer, goes to the crash site to recover personal items and the bodies of his wife and daughter. Meanwhile, a journalist named Tessa Gorbett pursues the story, delving into the complexities surrounding the incident. The film delves into the psychological toll of guilt and grief on both Roman and Jake, examining how the tragic event affects their lives and relationships. The narrative unfolds with suspense and emotional intensity, creating a gripping exploration of loss and its aftermath.

The film garnered mixed reviews, reflected in its 5.7/10 IMDb rating, a 40% Rotten Tomatoes score, and a 44% Metacritic rating. Google users, however, expressed a 65% approval of the film. Despite a box office performance of $674,238 against a $10.5 million budget, "Warhorse One" stands as a testament to the psychological toll of guilt and grief. Released on April 7, 2017, in the UK, the movie provides audiences with a riveting exploration of loss, blame, and the enduring aftermath of tragedy.
