Sick is a 2022 American slasher film directed by John Hyams and written by Kevin Williamson and Katelyn Crabb. The movie features Gideon Adlon, Beth Million, and Dylan Sprayberry in lead roles and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022. It was subsequently released on Peacock on January 13, 2023. The narrative centers around the experiences of two close friends, Parker Mason and Miri Woodlow, who opt to quarantine together at Parker's family's isolated lake house.
Upon their arrival, Parker begins receiving mysterious text messages from an unknown number, unsettling both girls and raising doubts about their solitude. Later in the evening, an unexpected visitor, a DJ, arrives at the house. DJ is revealed to be Parker's previous fling, and tensions rise when he confronts her about an Instagram post featuring her kissing another boy named Benji. Despite the uneasy atmosphere, Parker allows DJ to stay the night. However, the situation takes a dark turn when an intruder enters the house, stealing their phones while everyone is asleep. The plot unfolds as DJ and Parker wake up to loud music downstairs, discovering the intruder. In an attempt to escape, DJ confronts the intruder but is fatally attacked. Parker and Miri, trying to flee, crash their car into a tree after realizing the tires have been slashed. The intruder continues to pursue them, leading to a series of harrowing events. Miri, with a shattered leg, plays dead as Parker confronts the intruder in a desperate bid for survival.
The tension escalates when a second masked assailant appears, distressed by the presumed death of the first intruder. Parker manages to overpower the first intruder and, in a final confrontation, faces the second assailant. Miri survives the ordeal, and the movie concludes with Parker seeking help from a neighbor, only to be pursued once again by the relentless intruder, resulting in further twists and turns in the suspenseful plot.
