The escaped chickens of Mr. and Mrs. Tweedy's farm live peacefully on a quiet island in a large lake. Here they happily enjoyed their newfound freedom away from human threats. Ginger and Rocky, two courageous chickens, eventually become the parents of a young hen named Molly. The resourceful mice, Nick and Fetcher, regularly visited them with essential supplies.
As Molly grows into a charming 11-year-old, Ginger and Rocky try to protect her from the dangers that lurk beyond the island's borders. However, the emergence of industrial vehicles and construction noises from the nearby mainland caused concern in Ginger. She feared starting another poultry farm and mobilized her flock to adopt more covert measures.
Molly's curiosity leads her to sneak off to the mainland to look up information, where she is rescued by a teenage chicken named Frizzle. These two friends get stuck in a truck full of chickens being taken to Fun-Land Farms, which they find fascinating. Ginger and Rocky team up with chickens Babs, Bunty, Mack and Fowler to shake Molly. They track down and discover that the "farm" is a highly advanced poultry processing plant with security systems.
Inside the farm, Molly and Frizzle find an entertainment center. Each chicken is seen wearing electronic collars and engaging in rides and games. Rocky's impulsive approach inadvertently triggers security alarms, giving Ginger and her team crucial information. As a team strategy, Nick and Fetcher meet up with Rocky after their breakup.
Molly and Frizzle soon realize the evil purpose of the collars, but it turns out that the others are not wise either. However, their joy is short-lived as they fall into the clutches of the farm's masterminds, Dr. Fry and the despicable Mrs. Tweedy. The duo's cunning plan was to use chicken carcasses to produce delicious chicken treats that would be irresistible to corporate tycoon Reginald Smith. Ginger and Molly are reunited, and Mrs. Tweedy, meanwhile, is horrified to learn that the operation is being performed with her new husband, Dr. Fry. Searching for new ingredients, fast food chain entrepreneur Reginald uses the collar service to subdue the chickens' fears to make more delicious chicken nuggets for Smith. Mrs. Tweedy grabs Ginger and puts a collar on her, and she unsuccessfully resists, but Molly manages to free her as Rocky intervenes. The hens, roosters, and mice team up to reunite the corn in a silo and escape by turning the corn into popcorn. However, Molly laments Frizzle's fate. Ginger and the others go back and help the other chickens as well.
A climactic showdown ensues as Mrs. Tweedy attempts to activate the brainwashing device against the advancing chicken army. However, with determination and teamwork, Rocky, Ginger and Molly thwart Mrs. Tweedy's plans, and the chickens' activities cause Mrs. Tweedy to ironically fall into her production line. When chaos ensued, the freed chickens bravely fled with the rats, resulting in a disastrous explosion.
After everyone returned to the island sanctuary, a calm pace resumed in their lives. Further, Molly and Frizzle struggle to rescue their colleagues from oppressive farms across the mainland as part of a noble quest for Chicken Paradise on reconnaissance missions.
"Chicken Run: A New Dawn", directed by Sam Fell and released in the UK on December 8, 2023, marks the continuation of the beloved Chicken Run film series. The film received a generally positive response from audiences and critics, with an IMDb rating of 6.5/10, a Rotten Tomatoes score of 80%, and a Metacritic rating of 63%. 72% of Google users have expressed their appreciation for this latest installment showing their liking.
